Quimet & Quimet–Barcelona

If I need to explain Quimet & Quimet, probably I would say that it will be your place in Barcelona.

Quimet & Quimet is a quite small bar in the “Poble Sec” neighborhood, and huge in quality and food. The concept is very simple: tapas and small sandwiches prepared on time with dozen bottles on the walls. I can bet that you will spend at least 10 minutes looking at the walls and try counting or admiring them. I met Quimet & Quimet in 2018, during a weekend trip, and since that day, I became a frequent visitor. Before the pandemic, the small salon was converted into a “find a spot and relax” where you can hear and meet people from all around the globe, enjoying the food and drinks. I admit that with the pandemic, Quimet & Quimet lost a little of that spirit, but now you have more “space” to relax and enjoy the menu. It is better now – in a different way, of course.

The menu is very simple, but it doesn’t mean few options. Basically, it is based on pickled food and a lot of exotic combinations that bring flavor and discoveries to your life. For example, oysters, red pepper, and caviar OR smoked salmon, yogurt, and honey… It is amazing! There is no kitchen in Quimet & Quimet and all options are pickled and prepared right in front of you. The menu is split into 3 parts: Plates (small plates with fish, seafood, cheese, and/or vegetables), Tapas, and small sandwiches (Montaditos). Try to open your mind and discover new combinations. It is highly recommended!

To drink, as I mentioned above, there are infinite options of wines and spirits if you desired, but I recommended stay between 2 options: Beer and/or Vermouth. Both are home-crafted and amazing. Probably this is the best vermouth I tried in Barcelona (I have a bottle at home) and it is always my 1st option there. The craft beer is also good. I can guarantee that you won’t regret ordering.

Quimet & Quimet is a special place that I am pleased to invite people to know better. There is no reservation, they work with a queue (first in, first serving). So please bear that in mind to avoid rush/busy times and NEVER try to visit Quimet & Quimet with a small slot of time. Go there with no rush and enjoy that spirit.
