El Nacional–Barcelona
It is tough to explain El Nacional. In fact, it is a group of bars and restaurants in the same place.
Yes, you read correctly – You will find a cocktail bar, grill, tapas, and also a fish restaurant at the same address. Located on important Passeig de Gràcia, few blocks away from Casa Batló, you will find El Nacional where the concept is, using the same words of their website, a restaurant of restaurants.
El Nacional is split into different types of bars and restaurants and you can enjoy more than one “type of bar” on the same visit. For example, you can start your night drinking a beer at the bar, order some oysters from the fish shop, and finally have dinner on the grill bar. It is all there, a few steps away – all together and connected. And yes, the space is really new and modern (and maybe I’m sounding “posh” here), but the important is that all type of people fits in El Nacional.
During my visit, we went for the tapas option (La Taperia) that connects very well with the other spaces, offering you some options for the other restaurants. We started with Bomba (a type of croquette) and potato sticks with jamon and eggs. Then we ate more croquettes, oysters, and scally. If I could mention a “top 3” it will be Oysters (very fresh and delicious), potato sticks, and croquettes. It worth mentioning the price, which is a little bit higher than other places, but not a major issue considering the fact that the concept is “almost unique.” El Nacional is a good option if you’re on Passeig de Gràcia and have more than one option of a restaurant to choose from.
It worth a visit. For more information and details on the menu and restaurants, please check their website below.
