Glutton
Hello! My name is Matheus Monteiro. A Brazillian glutton born on 27/03/1984. Currently living in Barcelona, but never saying that’s forever. I’m always moving. I’m always changing… Like everyone else.
Why glutton? Besides the fact that I love to eat, I love discovering new places for food and drinks. I love hidden spots, secret recipes, family business running for ages, and all the traditional and historical stories (yes, redundant! I know…) that explain the places.
I’m not looking for the perfect place. This is something 100000% personal and impossible to define perfection for someone else, but me. So, what is perfect for me, maybe it doesn’t fit for you. And all the way around.
I’m in a move to discover places and give my sincere opinion about this joy combination of food+drinks+place (and here you can add bars, pubs, restaurants, etc.).
In 2011, while living in Brazil, I joined my friend Breno to create Gole & Gula. A similar site that reviewed more than 900 places in Brazil and also covered food festivals, competitions, promotions, etc. for almost 10 years. I left the site, but never the joy to discover places and follow my friends on new adventures. Since then, I unconsciously look to a bar with a different look. A menu is not only a list of options but a proposal. So, I like to look to the essentials of that place to offer that specific thing. And, that “spell” is running in my veins over and over.
After living in Dublin (Ireland) and Lisboa (Portugal), I arrived in Barcelona where I already knew the food, the different combinations, and mixing of people+culture+liberty+opportunity… And here we are! “Backing on my basics”, but with a different view and only for fun.
There is no mission or proposal. Only to enjoy this part and extend as much as possible the options and reviews to help you to find a good place to have a good time and understand this “joy” that I’m repeating here over and over.
Please, feel at home and enjoy as much as possible. Maybe I’ll be next to you at the bar, drinking and eating at the same place that you. Probably I’ll be smiling and you will get the point that I tried to explain here…
